Essential Learning Standards

​Etiquette - 30%
  1. I can demonstrate proper rehearsal etiquette.
  2. I can demonstrate proper performance etiquette.​
Music Literacy and Reflection - 30%
  1. I can demonstrate a basic knowledge of music theory.
  2. I can identify basic music vocabulary.
  3. I can show appreciation for different genre of music.
  4. I can examine how music connects us to history, culture, heritage, community, and to other academic subjects.
  5. I can examine how music relates to my own personal development and enjoyment of life.
Music Performance - 40%
  1. I can identify and demonstrate basic fundamentals of singing.
  2. I can sing in 2-3 part harmony.
  3. I can demonstrate musical knowledge and literacy through performance.
The "I can statements" for our classroom were updated in August 2016 and are derived from The Utah Fine Arts Core Curriculum which was updated in the summer of 2016.

A student's final grade in choir is determined by their successful completion of  "I can statements". They are divided into three categories:
  1. Etiquette (30% of final grade)
  2. Music Literacy and Reflection (30% of final grade)
  3. Music Performance (40% of final grade)


​In our classroom we take responsibility for our own learning. As your teacher, I will do everything that I can to help you accomplish your learning goals so that you are successful with your educational goals.
